FREE PLUG-INS!
May 13, 2009The title says it all! I was just turned on to these two free plug-ins. I will admit, they are still downloading so I have not heard them. I thought I would share the news anyway.
There are two on the site below. There is the BitterSweet II, a transient shaper, and Stereo Tool, offering more control on a master output. Check them out, leave comments, let us know what you think!

Discussion Forums?
May 11, 2009I feel the time has come to add some style of a discussion forum to the SDPTUG site. I do not plan on this forum taking away from our meetings and events but it would be great to have a way to stay in touch with all of our users/members and also give people quick access to answers when their Pro Tools system may be troubling them.
The question that I propose is how would you like it to be handled? Would you prefer a Yahoo or Google group where the posts/replies can be sent to your email? Would you prefer a forum on the SDPTUG site that you have to log in to read or post (like the DUC on the Digidesign site). What other options are there?
If you are a member of another online forum somewhere, and you like the way it works, how about you email me and let me know the site and I can check it out to see if it will work with our site. You can email me at caleb@tracsd.com.
Our next meeting is in the works and will be announced very soon. Until then, keep on rocking in the Pro Tools world.

And … We are Back!
April 27, 2009Dear Pro Tools Friends,
Have you ever had one of those months where sleep is not an option because your to do list occupies all 24 hours of every day? In my dictionary, that is called April. Rest assured though, that the SDPTUG is alive and well, and growing!
We are working out the final details for our next meeting. We are shooting for sometime near the end of May or beginning of June. The location and topic details will follow soon.

Pro Tools Training Videos Online

I came across this on the world wide web yesterday so I thought I would share it with you.
They have a Pro Tools 8 FREEBIE! You have to download their media player, his name is N.E.D, but other than that, it seems OK.
Does anyone else know of some good Pro Tools online goodies?

Scheduling Our First Meetup
January 20, 2009Hey gang, I am looking closely at the calendar to see when we can get together for our first meeting. I am guessing sometime in February. My question to you is, when is a good time to have a meeting? Should it be a weeknight or a weekend? I would assume most folks would be into a weeknight but I wanted to get some feedback first. Tuesday or Thursday nights are what I am thinking for now but I would like a general opinion from the gang.

Where Have We Been?
January 15, 2009Hello fellow Pro Toolians, and welcome to the New Year! We are just getting settled back into the real world after being gone for Christmas and New Years and spending a week up at Digidesign talking about all of the joys and wonders of Pro Tools 8. There are so many new features and instruments inside of ‘The Ocho’ so we have PLENTY of things to talk about this upcoming year.
Some event topics that we are currently exploring are:
- Mixing in surround sound,
- Mixing & Sound Design for video games (oh yeah!),
- Instrument plug-ins (since there are so many available now), and
- Beat Detective vs. Elastic Audio (one of my personal favorites).
These are just some of the ideas that we are passing around, but, WE NEED YOUR HELP! Let us know what YOU want to talk about. The whole idea of this group is to help YOU so YOU need to speak up and let YOUR voice be heard. Leave a comment here on the site or send me an email at: caleb@tracsd.com with your suggested topics or ideas.
